Fat City Motorcycles was established in 1992 by Middletown, Connecticut's Johnny Moore as a small paint shop producing one custom motorcycle a year in a cramped 800 square foot space. Johnny had already been a part of the local business community for 15 years, beginning with his graduation at Vinal Tech in 1977. Since he had been building custom motorcycles all his life, beginning with small home garage projects, opening Fat City was a logical next step in his career.
Fat City Motorcycles has established and maintained strong, continous growth throughout its history, and presently completes 6 ground-up builds a year, as well as providing custom fabrication, general makeovers, complete rebuilds, and killer custom painting. Johnny attends numerous trade shows and enjoys a wide network of friends and associates in the custom motorcycle community which allows him to stay up to date on the latest trends and advances in one-of-a-kind bike building. He cites among his major stylistic influences master builder Dave Perowitz, Eddie Trotta of Thunder Cycles, and the legendary Indian Larry.
With a workforce of six full and part time employees, Fat City Motorcycles has combined experience in all aspects of custom motorcycle building. In 2004, Fat City received Federal Manufacturer of Custom Motorcycles licensing. Johnny demands the best from himself and his staff and is involved in every aspect of each project from conception through unveiling. He is committed to maintaining Fat City’s standard of excellence and steadfastly insists on a policy of continuous improvement.
Fat City Motorcycles is currently working towards their ultimate goal of a product line of custom motorcycles and a dealer network throughout the US and overseas. We have established ourselves with today’s top bike builders, including Eddie Trotta, Arlen Ness, Dave Perowitz, and more.
